ARTIST PROFILE | Carriers

AlternativeIndie

Carriers aka Curt Kiser is already synonymous with his Ohio hometown. On his 2019 debut Now Is The Time For Loving Me, Yourself & Everyone Else he was accompanied by Cincinnati icons Afghan Whigs’ John Curley and The National’s Bryan Devendorf. This fall, the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals tapped Carriers to play a set for their Monday Night Football game. Him and his dad rocked out in front of 60,000 fans. “Trust me, he shreds,” says Curt.

The music is crisp and anthemic, a cosmic swirl of heartland hallucinations, motorik Americana, and plainspoken poeticism in the vein of Tom Petty, Amen Dunes, or Kurt Vile. The band is fresh off summer 2024 slots opening for Band of Horses, Fruit Bats, and friend Michael Marcagi’s sold out hometown show. Fests include 2023’s Cincinnati’s Homecoming & St Louis’ Evolution. Carriers are poised to break out.

In December came first single “Sometimes” made with Dave Nelson, an accomplished upstate New York producer who has worked with artists ranging from

Lonnie Hollie & Joanna Newson to Taylor Swift & Mumford and Sons. In January came “Blurry Eyes” featuring members of The National (Bryan Devendorf, Ben Lanz) and War on Drugs (Dave Hartley) and mixed by Peter Katis (Interpol, Death Cab for Cutie). The singles have been spun by influential Triple A radio (KCRW, KEXP, WXPN) —earned Apple Music playlist support (New Music Daily, Morning Coffee) —and hometown paper Cincinnati CityBeat called Carriers a 2025 Artist To Watch with “this magical ability to turn raw emotion into sound.”

LP number two, Every Time I Feel Afraid arrives on Brassland in May 2025. Debut Now Is The Time... was reissued in 2023. Key Cincinnati indie shop Shake It!

Records will press vinyl editions of both Carriers’ LPs while both a local coffee roaster & brewery are planning product tie-ins tied to the release.
