New Album, New Energy, and a Beloved Classic Reimagined
Mark your calendars, Indianapolis—Anberlin is hitting the HI-FI stage on Sunday, August 17th, and it’s a show you won’t want to miss. The alt-rock veterans are bringing their signature blend of raw emotion and high-voltage performance back to town as part of the second leg of their nearly sold-out tour. Tickets are available now! Don’t wait—they’re going fast.
This tour isn’t just any run-of-the-mill celebration. Anberlin is marking 20 years of their iconic album Never Take Friendship Personal, and they’ve gone above and beyond to honor the milestone. In a move that surprised and thrilled fans, the band recently released Nevertake, a reimagined version of the 2005 classic, this time featuring Matty Mullins—frontman of Memphis May Fire—on vocals.

For Mullins, it’s more than just stepping in. “Never Take Friendship Personal was the soundtrack to my life when I was 17,” he shared. “To now have the opportunity to step into the role of vocalist for the band that inspired me is beyond surreal. Re-recording this album with my own voice has been a full-circle moment and an absolute dream come true.”
While longtime fans will get to hear beloved tracks reworked with new life, Anberlin is also charging full-speed into the future. Their new full-length album, Vega, dropped August 2 via Equal Vision Records, marking their first major release in over a decade. The record is dynamic, blending heavy-hitting rock anthems with industrial grit and the atmospheric depth that has defined the band’s evolution. It also represents a new era, being the first full record since founding vocalist Stephen Christian announced he would step back from full-time touring.
With Mullins now leading the charge onstage, Anberlin sounds as explosive and emotionally potent as ever. The current tour—joined by The Almost and Watashi Wa—launched July 31 and winds through 15 cities before culminating right here in Indy.
Whether you’ve been screaming along with Anberlin since their early days or you’re discovering their electrifying sound for the first time, this show promises a mix of nostalgia, reinvention, and the unmistakable energy that’s kept them at the forefront of alt-rock for over 20 years.
