The Brian Jonestown Massacre returns with a new double A-side single, “Makes Me Great / Out Of Body,” a hypnotic swirl of fuzzed-out grooves and psychedelic textures. Out now digitally and on limited edition red, transparent 10” vinyl via Anton Newcombe’s label, A Recordings, the release follows a triumphant UK and European tour and sets the stage for an extensive North American run this fall—including a stop at HI-FI Annex in Indianapolis on September 19. Select shows will feature special guests Cast, making their first U.S. appearance in nearly 30 years.
It’s been over 30 years since Newcombe founded BJM and released the band’s debut single She Made Me / Evergreen. Refusing to follow industry norms, Newcombe carved his own path—one documented in the iconic rock film Dig!, now celebrating its 20th anniversary with the remastered Dig! XX. Through two decades and 20+ albums, BJM has remained a relentless force in underground music, blending shoegaze, psych rock, noise-pop, and more.
Recent years have seen a major creative resurgence. After a brief writer’s block, Newcombe began a furious 70-day recording spree, producing two albums’ worth of material, including 2023’s The Future Is Your Past and the latest singles. Teaming up with Hakon Adalsteinsson (guitar) and Uri Rennert (drums), Newcombe continues to craft music on his own terms from his Berlin studio, staying true to his philosophy: “Nobody can stop me… It’s just for me.”
Catch them live at HI-FI Annex on 9/19 for a night that promises raw energy, immersive sound, and a band that’s never stopped pushing boundaries.
