ARTIST PROFILE | Chamber Music
Indianapolis band Chamber Music is not your traditional chamber music. Chamber Music reinterprets and reinvents classic (and new-classic) pop, soul, R&B, and rock music, bringing together diverse audiences for an unforgettable live music experience.
Chamber Music came together in 2014, playing a one-off gig for the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, and the name “Chamber Music” stuck. The band soon became one of Indy’s most-requested live acts: headlining regular dates at The Hi-Fi and The Jazz Kitchen, entertaining crowds on Georgia Street and at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and opening for En Vogue at Symphony on the Prairie in the summer of 2019.
The members of Chamber Music are veterans of many other Indianapolis-area bands, including Liquid Groove, Alligator Brothers, The Population, and the Indiana University Soul Revue. They use vocal harmonies and jazz improvisation to reinterpret classic and new-classic songs by their favorite artists including The Jacksons, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Prince, and many others. As Indianapolis Star columnist John Ketzenberger wrote in his profile of the band, “…they are serious musicians with chops…displaying a fluidity that comes only from experience.”
Chamber Music is Vanessa Renae (lead vocals), Alan Bacon (keyboards/vocals), Mark Hutchins (lead guitar/vocals), Michael Huber (keyboards/vocals), Andy Newell (bass/vocals), Robby Coleman (drums/percussion), Lee Wilson (vocals).
