Sir Woman—the solo project of vocalist and songwriter Kelsey Wilson—performs a new song “A New Story” on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The song is from the much-anticipated second half of her double album, If It Doesn’t, set for release May 16. The first half, If It All Works Out, is out now.
PopMatters comments, “Wilson imaginatively uses her voice to express the blessed confusion that makes one question one’s motives and that of others” and “There’s something down and dirty about the whole thing.”
Wilson’s long-held passion for soul, funk and R&B, led her to the creation of the double album—If It All Works Out and If It Doesn’t. On the first half, produced by Sir Woman and Matt Pence (Jason Isbell, John Grant, Sarah Jaffe, Cody Jinks, Here We Go Magic), Wilson emphasizes themes of love, positivity and romance, as well as embracing Sir Woman’s overall ethos of lifting yourself up.
The Austin Chronicle adds, “It’s a side of Wilson now familiar through her other main project, Sir Woman. The powerhouse R&B- and soul-integrating pop band garnered Best New Act at the 2020 Austin Music Awards and took home Band of the Year in 2023.”
Sir Woman’s headline tour across North America is currently underway. The tour includes stops in Indianapolis, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, and more!
