La Margarita Fountain Square is moving to the Factory Arts District (FAD) starting in March 2025, with the last day of operation in Fountain Square set for Saturday, February 8. The La Margarita team will operate two restaurants in the exciting and expanding space, formerly known as the Circle City Industrial Complex, as they also near completion on their next concept, Daisy Bar.
The site, located downtown at 1011 Massachusetts Avenue, just off Mass Avenue and 10th Street, in the Windsor Park neighborhood, is home to a variety of new and soon-to-open businesses, including: MVMT House, Bike People, Salt & Ash, Flags for Good, and Legacy Tokyo restaurant. Current FAD tenants also include 8th Day Distillery, Day Won Fitness, Mako Hemp, Fowling Warehouse, and a variety of local artist and maker spaces.
La Margarita is the longest running single-family owned independent Mexican restaurant in the history of Indianapolis. Now in its 41st year of operation, the team looks forward to the future of their business in a neighborhood eager for options. “Our plans to be on this side of downtown started over 8 years ago. To be able to see Daisy and now La Margarita come to life here is amazing. We live here, our family and friends live here, and we’re eager to continue the La Margarita brand here,” said Jon Carlos Rangel, co-owner of La Margarita.
La Margarita was founded by Larry and Lori Rangel in 1984 next to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Over the years, the restaurant has moved around town, keeping up with Indy’s appetite for Mexican cuisine. The restaurant opened its current location in Fountain Square in 2011, after over 20 years of operation on the Northside of Indianapolis. “I feel like we have had an impact here [in Fountain Square] and I am very proud of that. I am also very excited for our next phase. Daisy Bar is going to be the perfect complement and expansion of our family business. To add La Margarita at the same time is perfect,” said founder and co-owner Lori Rangel of the move.
The move does not affect either La Margarita at Sun King Carmel or Nacho: A La Margarita Outpost at Sun King downtown. Stop by, say hello and wish them well in their new adventure.
