With a love for basketball running deep in their veins, it’s no surprise these two legends are comparing their journey to the iconic ’96 Chicago Bulls and the trio of Jordan, Rodman, and Pippen. They’re reaching for the stars, not just for themselves, but to inspire Indigenous youth to chase their dreams and leave their mark on the Hip-Hop world. Their impact isn’t just about music; they’re building a squad of like-minded individuals, just like a championship-winning team.

“The ’96 Bulls team was the most legendary team of all time,” said Yung Trybez. “’96 Bulls,’ for us, is about building a team that’s legendary status. It’s about building a legacy and the legacy that we’re trying to attain is so important to us because of who looks up to us: the youth of future generations.” He continued, “we can always look back to the ’96 Bulls and say that was one of the greatest teams of all time and likewise, we want Indigenous youth to look back at Snotty Nose Rez Kids and say that was one of the greatest rap groups of all time. We are here to leave something behind that people will remember. It’s all about us making history and the ’96 Bulls made history.”

The song “’96 Bulls” is a fusion of sharp wordplay and slick rhythmic cadences, capturing the essence of basketball’s adrenaline-fueled spirit while representing their grind, commitment to their craft, and foundations they are building for their community. This track marks their 4th collab with Drezus; most recently on their 2020 single, “Where They At,” which won them a SOCAN Music Award.

“’96 Bulls” follows hot on the heels of October’s “I Got Paid Today,” and is for anyone that’s striving for greatness. Snotty Nose Rez Kids tore into the music scene with unmistakeable talent and an unforgettable name. Showing off their lyrical prowess and natural storytelling ability, Yung Trybez and Young D jumpstarted the band with two back-to-back albums in 2017. Their follow up album, 2019’s TRAPLINE, really launched their career with hit “Boujee Natives,” and multiple awards including their first Juno nomination. The band took their high voltage live show on the road and clocked 100 shows in 6 different countries. Their pandemic album, LIFE AFTER, saw greater industry recognition with multiple music magazine cover stories, and strong streaming platform support including Billboard advertisements in Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square, playlist cover images, and an Amazon Twitch Channel Takeover. Petey just wants to make stuff.

“If I can wake up every day for the rest of my life and make something new, that’s all I could ever ask for,” he explains “it’s the only goal I’ve got.”

His music is explosive and cathartic, with moments of aching honesty and probing self-examination giving way to biting wit and joyful exuberance amidst a sea of arpeggiated synthesizers, distorted guitars, and shouted vocals. Is it indie rock? Punk? Electro-pop? Emo? Sure, but if you’re getting hung up on what to call it, then you’ve already missed the point.

Houndmouth is an American alternative blues band from New Albany, Indiana that formed in the summer of 2011. Since their birth, they have grown to play performances on Letterman, Conan, World Cafe, and several major festivals (ACL, Americana Music Festival, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Newport Folk Festival). They’re also no stranger to indie Indy venues like HI-FI and The Vogue, along with performing the first show of the Nickel Plate Summer Concert Series in Fishers, Indiana in 2022.

Billy Allen & The Pollies

Billy Allen met The Pollies at Fame studios in Muscle Shoals, AL in late 2019. After the one day session they decided to work on a record together. Through 2020 they would write their debut record, set to be released in 2023 on Single Lock Records. Combining Billy Allen’s soulful vocal with The Pollies indie rock prowess, has made a great marriage and one that people are longing to hear.
